Safe Havens
Episode #30 of the Nevada Magazine radio show features respective interviews with Lynda Sugasa, founder and owner of Safe Haven Rescue Zoo in central Nevada, and Valerie Holt, director and veterinarian at Roos-N-More Zoo in Moapa Town.
In the first half-hour, Sugasa gives a detailed overview of the rescued animals that live at the Safe Haven wildlife sanctuary that's located near the small town of Unionville, south of the Imlay exit on Interstate 80. She also talks about upcoming events—a fundraiser happening in Reno in September and an October 5k and full-moon tour in November, both of which will be hosted on site at the Safe Haven property.
In the second half-hour, Holt provides an extensive rundown of the animals that live at the family-friendly zoo located about an hour's drive northeast of Las Vegas. She also talks about how they bring certain animals to classrooms and other places in the community.
