Nevada 150 Cake & Crooner, Esq.


Episode #47 of the Nevada Magazine radio show features respective interviews with Heidi Englund of the Nevada Historical Society and Keith Galliher Jr., a Nevada attorney and singer. Englund discusses the sesquicentennial cake, which will be unveiled during a special celebration of Nevada's 150th birthday in March 2014. Nevada Spirits


Episode #46 of the Nevada Magazine radio show features respective interviews with Colby Frey of Churchill Vineyards and George Racz of Las Vegas Distillery.

Churchill Vineyards is located on the historic Frey Ranch in Churchill County, near Fallon. It's currently the only Nevada winery producing Nevada-grown, produced, and bottled (estate) white wines. Churchill Vineyards is also producing Brandy, Grappa, Vodka, and several other distilled spirits made from vinifera grape and grain crops grown in Northern Nevada.

Located in Henderson, Las Vegas Distillery's first legal commercial distillation was on April 1, 2011. Its first locally made and sold spirit was Nevada Vodka, distilled from Winnemucca Farms-grown wheat. Read more about the business here. Listen to the show below.

Made in Nevada

Veterans Day


Episode #44 of the Nevada Magazine radio show features respective interviews with Billy Stojack, chairman of the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade, and Linda Grace, program manager of the Veterans Guest House in Reno.

The Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade is a signature Nevada 150 event and one of the largest Veterans Day parades in the country, attracting tens of thousands of spectators. The Veterans Guest House is a "home away from home" for U.S. military veterans receiving medical treatment and for families of veterans who are receiving care at facilities in the Reno/Sparks area. Listen to the show below.
