Castles in the Desert
Episode #40 of the Nevada Magazine radio show features respective interviews with Lonnie Hammargren, former lieutenant governor, and Randy Johnston, founder and owner of the Hard Luck Mine Castle.
In the show's first half-hour, Nevada Magazine Associate Editor Eric Cachinero interviews Hammargren about his unique Las Vegas residence, which he refers to by three titles: Castillo del Sol, the Hammargren Home of Nevada History, or the Principality of Paradise. The place resembles a museum more than a home. It’s filled wall to wall with objects Hammargren has gathered from across the globe, and his collection contains many unique pieces of Nevada history. Read more about Hammargren here.
In the show's second half-hour, Johnston discusses why he built his castle in the middle of the Nevada desert and what tourists can expect there. Read more about Hard Luck Mine Castle here. Listen to the show below.
