Episode #21 of the Nevada Magazine radio show features an interview with Kristen Avansino, executive director and president of arte italia in Reno. "We set out, in 2008, to create a forever bricks-and-mortar testimony to not only the culinary traditions of Italy, but also outstanding artistic representations," Avansino says.

The impetus for the interview is this "A Taste of Tuscany" story, from Nevada Magazine's May/June 2013 issue. The cultural center has hosted 19 Italian chefs to date in its culinary arts classes.

Avansino also talks about the history of this refurbished 1914 Reno mansion located at 442 Flint Street in the "Cal Ave District." Visitors also have the chance to see current art exhibits.
